Meta Muse and Instinct took the headlines this month. Neither is open to a family in Vienna, London or Munich today. Here’s how the assistants compare, with a source for every claim about someone else.

- Every reply is checked before it is sent: it will not claim a booking, a time or an event it cannot see.

- AES-256 for calendar tokens, no ads, nothing sold or used to train anyone else’s models, “delete my data” in one message.

Meta Muse
- What it is
- Meta’s personal AI agent. It acts for you: browsing, filling in forms, booking and buying.1
- Launched
- 8 September 2026, in the US.2
- Where
- US, and Canada from 18 September 2026. Not available in the UK or EU at the time of writing.3

- Web, iOS, Android and WhatsApp chats, per Meta’s launch post.4

- A free tier with usage limits and paid plans, reported at $20 and $100 a month.5

- Meta’s examples include permission slips for school trips and family calendars.6

- Decrypt reported that Muse synced a columnist’s iMessage history after he says he declined Messages access; Meta says the feature was opt-in.7
Instinct
- What it is
- A personal AI agent you text or call, made by Spear Street Technology in San Francisco.8

- A family assistant you text, for meals, schedules, reminders and groceries.11

- What it is

What is the best AI family assistant in Europe?
It depends on where you live and how you like to talk to it. Meta Muse is not in the UK or EU yet and Instinct is invite-only. Frankie is built for European families in WhatsApp, in six languages.38
Which AI assistants work in WhatsApp?
Frankie runs entirely in WhatsApp. Meta Muse also works in WhatsApp chats, but only in the US and Canada so far. Fambot reads WhatsApp groups and sends you a summary.4314
Do AI family assistants act without asking?
Some agents can. Frankie lays out the plan and waits for your yes before it books a table, submits a form or sends anything on your behalf.
